Monthly Meeting and Topics

EAA Chapter 1414 January Membership Meeting. Dinner and social hour start at 5:30 PM. The menu this month includes Lasagna and salad. The business meeting will start at 6:30 PM. This month we will be joined by Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, well sort of. Mr. Edward O'Brien of Harvard, IL will be performing his impression of the American WWI Ace of Aces. Captain Eddie wasn't only a Flying Ace who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor; he was a famous race car driver prior to the war, was President of Eastern Airlines and owned the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during his long and adventurous life. Join us and learn about this native of my hometown, Columbus, Ohio.

Young Eagles & Eagle Flight Experiences

Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. EAA’s Eagle Flights® is a flight experience and informal mentoring program designed to welcome and encourage adults who want to discover flying, but don’t know how or where to take that first step. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

Jenny Project

EAA Chapter 1414, in partnership with the Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum, constructed a 1918 Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" aircraft. The Jenny is an iconic aircraft and a marvelous example of early American aviation.

Breezy Project

Thanks to a very generous donation by Poplar Grove Airport owners Steve & Tina Thomas, EAA Chapter 1414 has begun the restoration of a Breezy! The ultimate open-air
flying experience!
